This is a great photo, very interesting indeed. Please please forgive me, but I have to ask, am I the only one that sees something weird with these stairs? ???? :0 #225400

You're not alone Melissa.

I do see strange things but we might be looking at this picture in a different way.

I get to see those gold fishes in a pod. Those are real indeed, but I like the way it looks if turning the image 90 degrees CCW, and it will become the right eye of a futuristic character, perhaps a relative of Darth Vader.

Dear Beau and Melissa:
I had to laugh when I read Melissa'a comment/question. You mean, Melissa, a la Georgia O'Keefe? #1182864

Dear Beau:
I suspect you were motivated by the opportunity to create a somewhat symmetrical and abstract composition. I wonder how the image would look if you tilted the camera down just a bit more, to bring the eye-shaped, turned-on-it's-side negative space a bit closer to, but not into, the center. That move would include a bit more positive space, the railings, steps and walkways, at the bottom of the photo. There, something said about the piece itself! #1184639

Beau, great photo, and we all have our opines and we see thing different, to me it reminds me of a stairway to hell, lol, if there is a hell I mean

To Maynard: I would have liked to tilt the camera down a bit more. However, if you look in the lower right hand corner, you can see the edge of my shoe. I needed to keep a wide angle to get the top level of the stairway. If I was 9 inches taller, I would have been able to do a lot more with the composition. I do appreciate your comments!

To Stan: If you're not a fan of contemporary art, this could be the stairway to hell :) #1184907

Beau:

You're right, we took the same picture. I saw an ad for this museum with the staircase picture as their poster. I wanted to replicate it but somehow, it looks so very strange and abstract you cannot even tell it's a staircase so I took several photos, different angle, different position, different level and I decided this one particular angle and I was right, it became my one and only winner photography so far. If I were you, go back to MCA and have another look.

Thank you for your lovely comments!
