Simply beautiful. What outfit where you with (I assume this was shot from one of the tundra buggies)? I am hoping to take my sons up North next fall to see the bears. My oldest son is named after Hudson's Bay and our dog is named Tundra. I love the north and miss it! #1064924

Nice shot, well composed, the only thing I think I would like to see would be a little bit better zoom and greater definition of the Polar bear. Like it a lot. #7008267

Thanks for the comments. I went with F rontiers Northwest for the Tundra Buggy experience. I strongly recommend them as they have a line up of Tundra buggies that forms a hotel. You sleep out on the tundra which saves hours of driving between Churchill and the bears. In fact, you are surrounded by bears.
This shot was taken at 600 mm which was the extent of my zoom. In retrospect, I will rent a 800 mm fast lens the next time I go up. Bears are all around you, right up close and far away, so you need a variety of lens (wide angle to a fast zoom). The light is fairly flat, so a fast lens helps a lot.
It is well worth every penny to go up and see the bears in the wild. We traveled with our zoo group so we had Polar Bears International leading our tours and giving talks after dinner. #7008311
