Daddy Don't Go

Uploaded: January 01, 2009

Description

***True Story, warning emotional***

Dedicated to all the single Mothers out there. May this year take a shift in the hearts of Daddy's who put themselves before their children. This is my daughter and as I looked at the image, this is what spoke through my heart.

DADDY DON’T GO

Wondering where...
Wondering when...
Where you’ve been?
When will I see you again?
What did I do?
Can I make it up to you?
I’m only five,
But with each year that passes
I realize it’s been a lie.
Wise beyond my years
My rose colored glasses,
are covered in tears.
Daddy don’t go!
I want you to know
The pain will pass away,
When you come back to me some day.

What a heart-rending image and story, Cassandra. It is not possible to just look at this as a photograph. This is a piece of social commentary that touches on so very many families in our self- centered, selfish, society. Do I speak from experience? Sure! But is from a slightly different perspective. I brought up two children, my son was 5yrs and daughter 3yrs when my first wife left me.
I will pray for both you and the little one and for the softening of her daddy's heart.

Thanks so much guys. It makes me get teary eyed just looking at it and thinking of my daughters brokenness. I have faith Marice that it will be restored one day. God is in the restoration business and has His hand us. Peter, I knew I should have included single Fathers in my dedication. You are a true hero to your children I'm certain of that. God bless you all and Happy New Year! #6967833

I don't think there is anyone out there that hasn't been touched by this situation, either personally, or by someone they love.
Peace to you and your children, Cassandra!
Of course, photographically, this image is perfection on so many levels. Not wanting to sound like I'm exploiting your personal situation, but I'm willing to bet that there are magazines or companies out there that would pay BIG money for what you have captured as well as the the poem you have shared with us. You are a brave woman to have posted both here. #7000043

This is indeed powerful... Not just the image, the message... Gives me chills... You have a complete story here in one shot, coupled with your sad words... Unforgettable... If all un-dedicated fathers could only be moved the way I am..

BRAVO! #7000638

Little hearts, so easily broken, so trusting, and yet resilient, too. This image indeed invokes emotion and the sense that her life has taken quite a turn. Sharing her story will help her resilience... she will be part of her own healing. Very nicely presented! #7000781

I am a single mom too. I know how hard it is to do it and how hard it is to see your children hurting... HUGS!!! God is in the business of restoration .. Sometimes restoration takes a different form than we hope for or expect.. It is so hard to trust anyway and know he has out best interest at heart :) I am right there with you... #7006689
