The Drovers dog take two (re-cropped)

Uploaded: December 12, 2008

Description

Eye: A Kelpie is said to have a 'good eye' if he is able to steady his approach and watch the mob's every move intently, controlling the sheep with its eyes. I took this photo of the young dog at training, he is yet to work on sheep, he was actually looking at a tossed ball at the time but the instinct is there. ~Pat

Yes those eyes are amazing! Might I suggest cloning out that stuff on the top of the photo and maybe flipping it on the horizontal. Most people read things left to right and when I get to the right there isn't anything there. Just curious as it how that would make a difference. :~) #6883616

Pat, this is much better. I think the shading is OK but do agree with Aimee on the horizontal flip. Give it a try.

By the way, I don't have your post processing media on the clubs list. What are your using? Do you have the capability of applying a high pass filter to this image to increase the detail of the fur and eyes? #6883798

I think Pat has already flipped it... wasn't the original the other way round? ... or am I losing it... (very possible)! #6884763

Thanks all, yes I did flip it Joan, this time I forgot LOL.

I will clone out the stuff Aimee,
what's a high pass filter Dale?I know folk are using something.

How do they get each hair separated, that's what I'd like to know.

On this one I used a trial download Topaz Labs Topaz Vivacity for sharpening and it does a few other things too.

On the other one I used Nik's Software
Sharpener Pro 3.0, a trial download but a bit complicated, costs $300 so I wont be getting that lol.

I'll put a message on the wall Dale.

Hi Pat. Wasn't sure if Corel utilized the high pass filter but it does. Here is excerpt from their description of features.

High Pass: The High Pass filter removes low-frequency detail and shading, giving the image a glowing quality. It emphasizes the highlighted and luminous areas of an image. Higher settings remove most of the image detail, leaving only edges visible.

It is located in the sharpening area. You usually apply it to a copy of the original and then blend it using either the overlay blend or soft light blend. You may have to adjust the contrast or midrange levels afterwords in some cases. #6887523
