Scared of Society

My PG101 "What is It?" Theme entry
Out on a motorcycle ride, I saw this statue by the side of the road and knew immediately I had to stop and ask some questions. A knock on the door and I was greeted by Werner Neuhaus, a Swiss artist who lives in the Emmental region of Switzerland. He started down is artistic road in 1992. He really loves his gas masked creation featured here, but has found it hard to sell. In his words, his art expresses hopes and fears in the social with one another and with the relationship of humans and nature.

Well Les, we can understand how he feels not every photo we take is one everyone wants. Nice story and the photo is well presented. #6829243Joy Rector November 30, 2008

An eerie and compelling creation by the artist, Les, and a shot by you that conveys the feel so well. #6829595Nikki McDonald November 30, 2008
The tones and textures you have captured tell me this must be a very compelling sculpture -- but I can understand that not everyone would want it in his home :) Thanks for the link to the artist's work. #6829658Donna La Mattino Pagakis November 30, 2008
Excellent work Les, thanks for sharing! #6830227Marisol Pastor November 30, 2008
I remember your other shots of Werner Neuhaus' work. This one is so powerful. Fantastic color and textures too. #6830645Susana Ms Heide November 30, 2008
The lighting surrounding the statue is amazing!! Rather than sitting in someone's home, this statue should be in a Museum! The concept behind it is very interesting! #6831388Cesar J. La Rosa November 30, 2008
