Diana in the WIndow
Uploaded: November 01, 2008
This lovely statue was on display at the Badisches Landesmuseum in Karlsruhe, Germany. Since I don’t know German, I can’t tell you how many centuries old she is or where she came from or who sculpted her. I do know, however, that she is Diana, Roman goddess of the hunt. You can tell by her strategically placed quiver of arrows and her hunting dog. The Greeks called her Artemis; and in both cultures, she was also goddess of the moon.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Ron, Nancy, and Stefania.Ron -- we were in Germany for two weeks starting September 19th of this year. Most of it was in Karlsruhe, where my husband had back-to-back conferences. During the first conference, there were side trips for "accompanying persons" to Maulbronn Monastery, Heidelberg, and Strasbourg. I loved them all -- but would have liked to spend more time at each of them. #6698094
