Hieroglyphics Exhibit
Uploaded: October 29, 2008
Egyptian hieroglyphics on display at the Badisches Landesmuseum in Karlsruhe, Germany.
I know only a few words of German, but the sign seems to indicate that this is from the 18th dynasty, about 1300 B.C. This dynasty included many famous historical figures: King Tut (Tutankhamun), Hatshepsut (one of the few women pharaohs), Akhenaten, and his wife, Nefertiti (who introduced Egypt’s first monotheistic religion) among them.
I loved the way this tablet was displayed against plain white concrete...the subtle differences in color, ranging from beige to white to gray...the variety of textures...and how the rough edges contrasted with the strong horizontal lines of the fragment. And I was really excited that this photo came out clearly, as flashes were not permitted in the museum.

Thanks very much, Vladan. I had helped the 11-year-old daughter of a friend research Hatshepsut for a school report earlier this year, so I found this link with her dynasty especially interesting. #6680500KARU WIJESUNDARA. A.N.P.A.S. October 29, 2008
