Description

CANADIAN ROCKIES
Summer 2008
This was taken in Early June.
There was an unexpected snow over night and these were the results.
That day we had thunderous
AVALANCHES
all around us. It was very exciting.
Most of this snow you see here was gone by the next day!!!

Hi Tommy! So VERY nice of you to stop by and comment. It was such a beautiful crisp afternoon when I shot this. JUST warm enough for the snow to melt a bit too fast! (About 45*f) It was very exciting. Hope you can make it here someday and make your photography wishes come true!

Good morning everyone! :)

Thank you Tiia!

Hi Sherrybear! I didn't mean any harm. It was my thunder thighs that did the damage I'm afraid.

Hi Christine! I'm so excited that I have something pretty to share! So very glad you like it and agree with what I did her. Cropping is a tough one for me so was excited that it turned out. (I liked the whole picture and hesitated).

Hi Ulysses! Thanks so very much. Wish all you guys could come here and see it first hand!!! -Laura

Wonderful Scenic Laura.
Your crop is perfect to put attention right on the mountain top.

Well done. #6798212

Laura E. Swan level-classic November 24, 2008

Well, Irene, you can truly take the credit here because YOU are the one who taught me (US ALL) to always try a nice tight crop getting right to the meat of the shot.

So, really, Thank YOU! This method works REALLY well on almost ALL of my shots now. What a huge difference this ONE AWESOME TIP has made in my editing skills. -Laura #6798787

That must have been awesome to witness - at a safe distance. We saw signs 'everywhere' warning for avalanches but didn't witness any.

Hi Robert! Thank you!

Hi SSSKiki!! Oh let me tell you...this was amazing! Actually this was at Mt Kidd! It isn't Mt Kidd ITSELF but if you are leaving the camp ground as you drive out it is THIS Rocky that a person sees straight ahead. I pointed it out to you guys but that day we pointed out so many things. :) The rumbles and thunders were amazing to hear. You'd have loved it. The snow was FAR too FAR away to hurt anyone.

Thank you for your wonderful comments and also for making this image a FAV for you! :)))

Rona L. Schwarz January 26, 2011

Stunning image of the Rockies, Laura! I love the crop and vivid colors! That must have been something to experience, even far away. Have always wanted to go to the Canadian Rockies and experience the beauty first-hand. I've been out West here in the U.S. and skiiing in the Alps (where there are lots of avalanche warnings), but have never been near one up close and personal, thank heavens. Anyway, maybe one day I'll make it...on my list! #9195994

I bet it was exicting!! What beautiful mountains and scenery!! #9197646

Laura E. Swan level-classic January 27, 2011

Hi Rona and Tammers - YES! It really was exciting. At first we thought it was a huge thunder storm but opened the trailer door to see these beautiful blue skies...THEN WE SAW an avalanche on the MTN and KNEW what was going on then! The rest of the day was spend in awe! Even the smallest of avalanches were VERY loud since we were in a VALLEY of ROCKIES!

Hope you guys make it here someday! It's so beautiful!

Thanks for the visit and your great comments!!! :D
