I like this, I'm an animal lover, so anything with dogs will grab my attention. I see you used the sports mode on this, and it seems to work well. All in all a very nice photo. #1004226

Thank you Sandra,
However, it was not taken in Sports mode but Spot metering mode. This helps in metering a very small area (the dogs fur and nothing else) and then make adjustments as to what the metering says. Shooting a black dog and trying to keep it black is sometimes very difficult. The cameras meter is calibrated to make everything neutral. If I had shot at what the camera wants to meter at, Niko (my dog) would have come out neutral gray or over exposed. In order to maintain how black she is, I underexposed what the meter said thus keeping the fur black instead of gray. Manual exposure was also used where I set the initial exposure to a fast shutter speed (1/400 sec) in this case to stop the action, and adjusted the aperture to keep the nice shiny black coat. I very, very rarely use any of the cameras preset exposure modes. You need to take control of your camera, don't let it control you. >Russ #6509460
