Very nice work, Dolores. The eye lashes really make this portrait work.

Hello Murry! Thank you!! I was doing my best to preserve those lashes and not let them disappear in the softness and blur! You're quite the generous one...commenting and extending support and encouragement here at BP. I really respect you for that. And I thank you for commenting...means alot to me. #41467

Something to treasure always. : ) #41469

Dolores Neilson May 26, 2019

Hi Shell!! Thank you! Yes...you're right about that. I will keep this and give it to her when she's an adult....a nice pic for her children (if she decides on children, of course) to keep. #41474

Donna R. Moratelli May 26, 2019

Hi Delores, This is excellent!. I love the soft sweet elegance and purity of this image. #41480

Dolores Neilson May 26, 2019

Greetings Donna! THANK YOU! I'm glad it appeals to you...it means alot to me! Thanks for your generosity in commenting once more, Donna...you're one who supports an awful lot here at BP too! I still think about your caboose shot..(the yellow one)..I always stop by and look at it when I'm on the page. I'm so confident that image will be in the winner's circle. #41485

Dolores, How beautiful! Your portrait is so beautiful! #41506

Patricia A. Cale May 26, 2019

I agree with everyone else, Dolores. This is a great portrait. The softness works very well in B&W and the angle is not your "usual" pose. Very effective. Looks like a winner to me! #41508

Dolores Neilson May 26, 2019

Greetings to you, Jeannie! Your comment is so appreciated! Many, many thanks for commenting ...especially on a weekend when you could be doing something else...for yourself! Have a good night!

Hi Pat!! I'm so delighted you like this. I hadn't done a portrait in some time so I thought that since there wasn't too much weather activity going on outside, a portrait would be a good thing to do. I appreciate very much that you took time to comment! Happy day! #41512

Donna R. Moratelli May 26, 2019

..and I am still thinking about the great snow scene of yours! It's so unique and awe inspiring. I LOVE it! That one has to be in the winners circle. You should submit it to all of the contests! #41587

Delores - An absolutely stunning image that is sure to please the judges as much as it has all of us! She is a lovely girl and she is lucky to have someone like you to record childhood memories for her! The ost- processing you did is excellent and the work to preserve the eyelashes really made the difference! #41597

Super "D", I don't knowwhat to say that has not already been said. Stunningly beautiful work of art!!! #41610

Dolores Neilson May 26, 2019

Hi Carol!! What a sweet thing to say....I'm delighted you like it. Thank you so much.

Hi Carolyn! Thank you!! I hope she appreciates it...right now, she moans and groans each time I take her picture! Even snapshots! Vanity is not her style (when she was little we talked about God frowning on vanity) so mirrors and cameras are not important things to her. And I'm happy for that! But it's sure tough to get a pic out of her! Thanks Carolyn!!

Aw Donna...The fact you remember my snow scene is so complimentary to me! Thank you for all you've said on it. I always appreciate your kindness and comments! Happy Monday!

Hi Judy!! Thank you so much! She does have nice lashes...they're actually longer but I lost some in the high key phase! If she had short lashes (like mine!), the portrait would have turned out differently. Thanks once again for your complimentary note, Judy!!

Greetings Sharon!! I hope you're right! I'd be delighted if it pleased the judges. I will tell her you think she is lovely...I think so too! Thank you for your complimentary post! What a gift you have given to me!

Happy Monday, everyone!! AND THANK YOU SO MUCH! ! #41621

Dolores Neilson May 26, 2019

Hey Bob!! Good morning again! YOU...run out of things to say?! HA! '?)

Carol Sherman May 26, 2019

Dolores, what a moving portrait of her. She's beautiful and you captured her thoughtful and gentle pose perfectly. Excellent work as always! #41634

Dolores Neilson May 26, 2019

HI Ray! Good morning! Thank you for sharing your opinion of my portrait. I appreciate that very much!! I am still quite limited with PS...though I'm trying to master high key cause I like that effect. Appreciate your kind work, again!! Happy shooting!

Hi Carol!! And good morning to you too! I appreciate your complimentary post immensely! ! Very thoughtful of you to take time on a Monday morning to do so. I don't know how you keep up with everyone!! But I commend you for all the support you give! I appreciate it BIG TIME! #41642

Dolores Neilson May 26, 2019

Hi June Marie!! That's really nice of you to post those very kind words. How fortunate I am to have such wonderful photographers who give so much of themselves. Many thanks for your confidence in me. Yes, I hope my daughter appreciate this pic when she's older. Thanks so much! AND STAY WARM WITH THIS COLD SPELL THE NORTHEAST IS UNDER FOR A WEEK!

Greetings Gary! I appreciate your comment immensely also. It's such a gift to find people who are willing to take time to say something supportive and complimentary! Hope winter is being nice to you! We're in a cold snap here for the next week. I'm so glad we have wood heat...I just love the warmth from it and I never have to worry about power outages. Take care and happy shooting! #41907

Dolores Neilson May 26, 2019

Hi again, June Marie ...just saw the posts at D-store.com! Congrats for being in week 12!! woo hooo!! #41912

Wonderful shot!

What filter (program) did you use to get the blurred effect? #45281

May 26, 2019

How beautiful.....A heirloom treasure. Diane #53595

Dolores Neilson May 26, 2019

Greetings Joy! So sorry for responding to your question so late! I believe (if I recollect correctly)...that I made a high key image first, then I used "Diffuse Glow" for the overall blurry effect. Thanks so much for your positive response to this image! I appreciate it immensely!

HI Diane! Many thanks again for your thoughtfulness and kindness. What a beautiful gift you have given me! Thank you!! #53795

Joy Rector May 26, 2019

Thanks for your response I am going to "play" with the idea (technique) in corel photopaint.

You have some wonderful photos on your page on this site. Great imagination and carrying them through so beautifully.

Joy #53843

Dolores Neilson May 26, 2019

You're very welcome, Joy! I recall having used tone curves for making the image high key. Then a blurring filter over that...then a monotone sepia treatment over that...for the slight coloration. I love to play too! I think of PShop/Ppaint as glorified adult coloring books...I used to love coloring books/sketching books as a child. Our photo editing programs allow us to be a kid again..even though we're serious about our photography! #53880
