Wow, a big daddy!! Did shoot this in the wild, Cathy?Cathy M. Gromball May 26, 2019
Hi Birdie! I did shoot this in the wild, but in Banff National Park. It was during rutting season, so I made sure to put a tree between us just in case he decided to become aggressive. He was more absorbed with eating, though, and didn't seem bothered by me being there.Cathy :) #27207

Sorry I skipped the "you" Cathy! Thanks for explaining. Our red deer are also a little easier to photograph during their rutting season (September/October), but still rather shy. If they get the slightest human smell - off they go!Carolyn M. Fletcher May 26, 2019
He's a beauty. We have a herd in a local state park, and they are not happy with photographers, either. #27224Lem Metro May 26, 2019
Nice shot, Cathy. Lake Louise and Banff are so beautiful. I haven't been there in years, but remember the wonderful scenery, especially camping at the base of Wolf Mt. #27232Lorraine T. Lynch May 26, 2019
Beautiful Cathy! Deer and Elk are my favorite and you captured it so well! #27244Cathy M. Gromball May 26, 2019
Thank you so much Birdie, Carolyn, Lem and Lorraine! Jasper, Banff and Lake Louise are my favorite places to visit in the spring, summer and fall. There is such an abundance of wildlife, mountains and foliage. I've never been to Wolf Mountain, Lem - I'll have to check it out!Cathy :) #27351

After checking my old travel iteneraries, I realize that Wolf Mt. is actually located in Glacier National Park, right along the Canadian border. It stuck in my mind because there were hikers that had to be rescued from near the peak while I was there. The camp was at about 11K feet and was beautiful. Sorry for the mix up. #27430Cathy M. That's okay, Lem! It just makes me want to visit Glacier National Park now. I travelled that way with a fiend a few years back on our way home from Montana, but there was heavy flooding, so they had to close the park. Thank you for sharing the info!Cathy :) #27557
