Hi Birdie,Nice use of artificial lighting . I never would have thought of trying something like this. The warm color works well with the underexposed background. I like it. #26979

Thanks everybody for your encouraging comments.
The Sundew (Drosera) is a carnivorous plant, which relies on nutrients it can catch. The tiny drops are a kind of glue. Little insects which land on the leaves attracted by them are glued and then dissolved. The small reddish "tentacles" can even move inwards to sort of bend over the prey to capture it. This is a specialist for acidic moist ground, in my region it can only be found in moors in three species easy to determine by the leaves:
Drosera rotundifolia - round leaves
Drosera intermedia - oval leaves
Drosera anglica - long-oval leaves.
I apologize for the botany talk on a photography site. Feel free to e-mail me, if you have any further questions:

Carol: The book will be available as an e-book also, but in German :-( It will be one I am doing about moors and moor ecology.

Thanks again for your support and being interested!!
Kind regards to all

Thank you Birdie for all your information. It's wonderful learning something new and pleased you explained the plant...most interesting and unusual.

Hope you post a link to your e-book, my son-in-law is German and could probably help me out a bit. Would be just a treat to see your photography too. Wish you the Best of Luck on your endeavor!!! #27015

The e-book should be finished by the end of spring 2003. I will give you the link then.

A very beautiful piece, Birdie! and a very interesting plant! Catch & release photography....very interesting concept!

Hope you post that link for us all. I don't speak German but I'd sure like to look at the pictures! #27116

Wolfgang Dolak May 26, 2019

Thank you so much everybody for your kind support!!

I'll be honored to provide the link as soon as the e-book is fhinished.

This IS a fascinating plant. It's roots are very short and very flat, just to get a little grip in the moist moor surface, so it is easy to remove and take back.
Have a nice Sunday, all of you!
