A Walk to Remember

Uploaded: October 23, 2004

Description

My dad is retired from the railroad after 38 years. Him and my son are walking to see the trains one last time. Changed to b/w and added glow in PS7.

Well you knew it was going to be me :-)Nice picture Nicole. B&W suits it well and your Dads top has 'popped' out nicely with the glow. Was this an opportunity shot or did you specifically det yourself to capture this? I only ask because it would have been nice to see your son's face in the pic too. Something to think about next time.

Keep it up Nicole. Please don't be discouraged by a perceived lack of success. The more you do the better you will get. Also consider that what you think are great shots often are due to their personal value. I often look at some of mine and think 'wow that's a great photo of my freshly polished car' etc, etc but I know that no-one else is really interested.

For contest entries you need to submit work that is of universal appeal. I hope you understand what I'm driving at here.

If not just toddle on Down Under and slap me :-)

regards, Graham

PS (hope Dad is enjoying retirement)

Hey, Graham. Thanks for the comments. I didn't plan the picture. I just happened to be walking behind holding my other son. I agree about the face, although I thought it was nice to imagine their thoughts and expressions.

I also agree about the contest entries. Universal value and all. Not all that win, I feel, have that universal value. But that is what's great about this contest. I really enjoy this site for feedback like yours and being able to see such different work.

Thanks for visiting the photo and commenting.

Take care! Nic #868231
