26 Years Later, Mount St. Helens-WA
Uploaded: February 27, 2008
A very cloudy, wet and windy day on our way to Windy Ridge overlook at Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, Washington State 2006. Photo is of the eastern edge of the blast zone where the trees were killed but left standing. Twenty six years later, the forest is slowly returning.

Love the fog coming down the mountain, the stark tree trunks still standing proud. #865622Derek D. Dafoe February 29, 2008
I love this Denny!! I can imagine what this looked liked just after that happened!! Sure takes along time to recover!! Great shot!! #5571314Denny E. Barnes February 29, 2008
Claudia and Derek, thank you. We drove to Windy Ridge on this rainy day hoping the clouds would lift, but never did. We went back the next year and to our surprise we had driven almost to the foot of St. Helens. This is a very beautiful drive and well worth the extra miles.Sandra R. Alvey February 29, 2008
