Final Score--Cardinals 1 Spiders 0

Uploaded: February 20, 2008

Look closely above the cardinal's head and you can make out the web of a spider. Although the cardinal is known as a seed and fruit eater, they will eat insects, especially during breeding season to get protein. This spider trapped a moth like insect but the cardinal flew up and grabbed the moth and is devouring it before the spider even had a chance.

Thanks Matt. I was so pleased when I saw this on my monitor when I got home. I know just a fraction of a second later, that moth disappeared down the throat so luck was with me in capturing this. I have a second shot showing the instant it snagged the moth and most of the moth is hanging out the side of his mouth. #5564543
