My Buddy Spike

Description

Spike is a barracuda who buddied up with me briefly on a dive in Roatan, Honduras. Although his posture looks intimidating, he's actually having his teeth cleaned by small fish called gobies. If you approach these fish very slowly, they often hang around to see what all the fuss is about.

A difficult subject to photograph due to the fish's high reflectivity. The critical element here was the lighting. I used a housed Nikon N90s w/105mm lens, Ikelite Substrobe 200 on low power.
