Beautiful eyes and a pretty kitty too Lisa. I notice he has the flatter face of the Persian, though many Himalayans I have seen have a longer nose. The flatter face gives him so much character! #5450761

He's a Seal Lynx Point Himalayan, Carol. Himalayans are Persians with Siamese cat markings. I think his flat face is traditional to the breed, yet I've seen some with longer noses, too.
We were so lucky to have been GIVEN this beautiful cat. A man my husband works with had two Himmies who didn't get along. He happened to be looking for a good home for the cat at the same time we were looking for a pet for the kids. Voila!
Liberty's name has an interesting story to it. He was originally named 'Pain' (His previous feline housemate was 'Trouble'). We weren't crazy about that name. Since it was October of 2001, just after 9-11, we decided on the name Liberty. Over a year later, the original owner gave us the cat's papers, stating his date of birth. Ironically, we found out that he was born on 9/11 of the year 2000.
We all realized that Liberty was given the perfect name!

What a great story Lisa! And after reading what you wrote, I checked this website http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/articles/persian-himalayan.html

I guess the Himalayans I have seen with longer noses must either be poor specimens of the breed, or just bred as the "old" type, sort of like some people still breed "applehead" Siamese instead of the extreme wedge-heads that are shown today. In fact, all my Siamese have been the appleheads, as I prefer that look to the wedgeheads. And now I even have a long-hair Siamese (registered) whose parents were both long-hair too, and she is an applehead. I enjoyed reading about the Himalayans and learned quite a bit about them that I didnt know. I am glad you gave Liberty a good home! :) #5450932

What a fantastic image! He is indeed regal and your shot does him such justice. We have an Applehead-who thinks he is king of the house, is very affectionate and "my boy" for sure. Thanks for the interesting facts as well. Nice to meet another cat lover, too.
