Don't Give Up

Uploaded: December 18, 2007

Description

Don't give up
Because you want to be heard
If silence keeps you
I will break it for you
Don't give up
Because you want to burn bright
If darkness blinds you
I will shine to guide you

Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you are loved

This is my Oldest Son Napoleon. I have not submitted images of him because he does not like to be photographed. The shots I have of him are of him hiding or running. Lately he is sitting on his own. He likes to be in the shadows.
I have always wanted to do a piece of him and try to convey his world to others. Napoleon has Autism, but he is a success. He is in highschool now, next term he is going to be mainstreamed to credit courses ( he wants to go to college ) I know he can do it if given the chance, I hope and pray he is given that chance. He deserves it, he has worked so hard. They use to say he was an enigma, I never understood. He is my baby, I see so much potential. In my gallery you see images of all my kids Katrina, Mason, Ireland and now you get to meet Napoleon. :)

The words below his image are from the song "Don't give up" by Josh Groban. When I first heard this song, it touched my heart and reminds me so much of Napoleon. #810911

Paola, Thanks so much for letting us meet your son. Tell Napoleon thank you, as well. I love everything about this portrait. It brings out the very soul of your son. So beautifully done in every way. I used to work with children with autism and have a nephew with autistic tendencies. So I understand the quiet world they live in. Congratulations for all he has achieved. I'm sure it was a family effort -- and so worth it. Deb. #5239818

Hi Deborah, Stan and Rebecca :)
Thank you for your kind words :)
Next week I have the meeting with the high school, we are going to gently mainstream him next term. He is excited and surprisingly looking forward to the change. He is very much much aware of his peers and wants to be where they are at. Gently I tell him, Gently :)
To be honest everytime I see him interact with others it still makes me cry, if I see him succeed in the relationship they are tears of joy. If it does not work it breaks my heart. Through the years he has adapted to being alone. I always check in on him (emotionally) and he tells me all is well that he is happy. I silently pray that he is. #5283070
