I JUST WROTE THIS POEM FOR ESPEN
THE BEACON OF DARKNESS THEIR SHIELDING ALLY
WITH THE SILENCE OF ANGEL WINGS THEY GLIDED
THROUGH THE ROAR AND RACE OF THE HEART
DAILY HEROIC ACTS PERFORMED
FROM FARM BOYS TO MERCHANT SONS
ALL STARS TO NOTED STARS
SCUFFED OF SOUL ON SOIL BY FOOT
CLEAR VISIONS OF WHY BY AIR AND SEA
WITHOUT HESITATION THE CALL WAS ANSWERED
AND NOT FOR GLORY AS COMRADES LAY
YET FOR FAMILY AND MORAL RIGHT
TO LIBERATE THE SPIRIT FROM HUMAN ATROCITIES
THE VOICE OF A SILENT MIGHT
SENT TO CALM THE CALAMITY OF MADNESS
WIN OR LOSE IT’S STILL HELL
THE MODESTY OF TRIUMPHANT RETURNS
AS CIVILIANS HOMEWARD MARCH
TO FIELDS, FACTORIES,LOVES AND LOSS
FAILING TO FEAR FAILURE
DEEPLY TEMPERED AS HARDENED STEEL
REACHING TO RAISE THE STANDARD
WHILE DELIVERING A WAILING BOOM
A GENERATION OF GREATS RISE
NEVER TO BE MATCHED AGAIN
