Thanks, Sam and Tammy.

To be honest, Tammy, I cheated: this is a composite of 2 shots, one of the background and greenery and another of my kitty, K.D., on the same background with the same lighting. I didn't think I'd be able to distract her from playing with the greenery, so in the second shot (the one of K.D.), I held the greenery up to attract her attention! #5177432

Hey Donna- Welcome to the group. The side-lighting on this little kitty is super. He pops right off the page :) So how did you do this? What was your lighting set up & how did how'd you get the cat to sit still long enough to take her photo? #5198302

Thanks, Peggy and Jayme.

Jayme, in my response to previous comments by Sam and Tammy (see above)I mentioned that this is a composite (otherwise, couldn't keep the kitty from trying to eat the greenery :->).

The lighting setup is more or less the same as that in the other photo, "Waiting for Sandy Claws" (see comments below that photo - I updated them yesterday...), i.e. 2 strobes in softboxes - one slightly behind the cat, the other at camera left at about a 45 degree angle, and silver reflector at camera right, close to subject.

Glad to be in the group and will make sure I post more lighting info along with future photos. #5200530

Thanks Donna for the info. Let me ask you, by behind the kitty, do you mean up above & behind on the right? Just trying to understand. Good idea to combine the images. Those little critters can be so darn fickle. We had one for 15 years, but sadly she died a few years back. The kids are grown, so we decided not to get any more pets :) Grandchildren are fun enough! When the poor cat died, my husband took it really hard :( So... he just didn't want any more. They are fun to watch! #5200577

Such a wonderful holiday image!
I have two cats myself; tough to capture at times. One (the one in my mini-pic) isfascinated with the camera and always has to come and check it out!
