Oh my! Well, you've sold me on the 180 L macro lens! How do you feel about the fact that it doesn't have image stablization? That's the only hesitation I would have (your lens has me spoiled in that respect!), but I can't see ANY prime L macro lens with image stablization! #5209580

Thanks, Susan! Good to see you.. :-)
I love the lens. I've only used it at home or in the yard at a very low (100) iso so it's always on a tripod. The only thing I don't like (just a tad) is the in-home working distance of the lens. If I shoot flowers, I have to be like 3 or 4 feet back, and then the tripod legs, then me on a chair......I run out of room sometimes.

Now, that was a very interesting and valuable comment! It is, actually, my only complaint with the macro function of the 100-400 L, and for that I have to stand half a block away! What I would really like is something that I can lay in the grass with and peer through the blades of grass. Hmmm... How far away did you have to be with the Sigma 105 that you used to own? I see such fantastic work taken with that lens. #5211815
