Santa Monica Coast
Uploaded: November 07, 2007
I found this bowl shapped rock on the beach and thought it would make a nice foreground subject as the water washed over it. When the sun dropped low enough to bring golden highlights, I began my shoot. From the weather satellite images and live webcams on the internet, I knew there was a possiblily of an interesting sky before I got on the road to this location. I used a Tokina 12-24 at 12mm for this shot. A Lee 3 stop hard edge grad ND filter helped to keep the sky from washing out. Shutter was 3/10 second at f22. ISO was 100 (as always). Tripod, cable release, and mirror lock-up.

This is stunning Dennis. I love the depth, sense of motion in the sky and veiled water. Nicely done. #5060378Aleksandra Miesak November 18, 2007
