Thanks William. Around this area there are also a few old buildings such as those you have so masterfully captured in your gallery. I'm inspired to go back to the area and see how many I can find. Dale #4644066

Thank you Gail. By the way, I loved what you did with "Portland Head Light" I've always been a big fan of water color and your rendition is well done. Is that Portland Maine or Oregon?

It's a wonder you weren't arrested prowling around in the dark lol.

A great capture Dale, perfect lighting and the water looks so calm with the reflections! ~Pat #6062173

Thanks Sherry and Pat. This is one of our favorite places to visit. My wife likes to sleep in and I love to get up early and wander. I'll try to find the original of this pix and post it.

This is one of those shots that I couldn't "find" untill it was on the computer because I didn't have the lens and couldn't get to the POV that I wanted. Be right back. Dale #6062665

Dale Hardin June 15, 2008

I'm back. Here is the original shot. Exposure time: 1/1 F-stop: 4.8
ISO speed: 160 It was shortly after this trip that I decided to get a secondary camera with expanded zoom capabilities. I do not own a DSLR so don't have exchangeable lenses. #6062678

Goofed up here. Had to delete the image because it entered it as a contest entry when I attempted to show it to you and I don't want it as a contest entry. How do you stop BP from doing that? Dale #6062695

Aimee C. Eisaman June 15, 2008

It shouldn't enter it unless you click the box next to the choice to enter it. Maybe it is already clicked for you and you have to find it and unclick it when you upload a shot like this.

Anyway....about the shot.....magical light you have for this one.....it pays to get up early! I just love the tones here.....such a peaceful scene! Nice title as well. Near the lower left hand side there is a white spot that is probably a reflection that I would think about cloning out just for continuity sake. I think it takes away more than it adds or does anything at all. #6062746

Dale Hardin June 15, 2008

Thanks Aimee. I see the spot you mean and you're right. It should clone out just fine and keep the eye away from that area. Dale #6062972

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area Dale, and this just really reminds me of home. Can't say I was ever down at the docks at the crack of dawn like this, but I'm sure glad you were. Now we get to enjoy it at this hour, too, thanks to you!!!

I love the reflections of the ships on the water the most. Did you notice you had a couple of seagulls peeking at you there on the left? #6063742

Dale Hardin June 15, 2008

I hope to get up the the bay area this fall. Perhaps you could email some recommendations for good photo shoots with parking. I know, I know, asking for parking space is a little over the top. Dale #6064035

I know just the place/s. Remind me when the time gets closer. You will have to pass over the GG Bridge. Okay with you? #6064137

Graham Robards June 15, 2008

The only way I know to stop it being a contest entry Dale is delete the image then start all over again. ~Pat #6064203

No problem Laura. We plan to go from there all the way to Canada.

And Pat, thanks for the tip. I did that but haven't re posted yet.
