this is a wonderful shot for your first try.

These rim light poses, (we used to call them Angel poses for the kids) are quite difficult.

Although I am not a pro-photographer, I did learn some useful things working in a studio.

The most important I think for all "portrait" style photos....is catch lights.

You know the sparlkey things in the eye. Even with this kind of pose. The bride could have focused her eyes more in the direction on the rim light, or spot light. Although only one eye is showing you still could have got the sparkle.

This is rather good though because I have tried it at home and not in a studio and cant come close to what I used to do in studio photography.

Just remember that the sparkle in someones eye is going to draw attention to that subject. The person in the portrait needs to "catch" the intrest of the people looking at it.

I uploaded a pic for you. This is the best I have gotten out of lighting so far...but the reason is to show the light in the eyes. Even without looking at you, She still draws attention....Its the light in the eyes...

Keep up the good work.....and let the eyes capture the moment! #9461

Darren- Nice job and Connie's comments were right on. I think if you had had her look just a tiny bit to her right, you would have gotten that catch light. The light falling on the dress is beautiful. It shows so much detail. Good Job!!!! #15348
