In the cool of the night

Uploaded: July 13, 2007

Description

Part of the Newcastle(NSW, Australia) fishing fleet moored up for the night in front of the Newcastle Co-op. Taken last-night at 8pm "In the cool of the night", I only managed about 10 pictures before the cold got me. Lens aperture F/2.8, shutter speed 2sec, focal length 10mm, ISO 50. Camera on Night Landscape & I used a bollard as a tripod.

Wow, Chris... Amazing that it was so cold!!! Come visit me and we will get you heated up here in no time!! Hit a 100 degrees the other day! Oh, maybe about 75-79 at nights!! LOL! Back to your image...I like the warm glow of the image, it has a warm 'ambience' feeling to it! That is why it surprised me that it was so cold! I like the reflections in the water and the 'stillness'. #691156

WOW is right, BEAUTIFUL Chris. Love the color, reflection, the lights. This photo has it ALL!
Sure wish that weather would straighten out for you, go from bad storms, down pouring rain, flooding to freezing cold. You come visit us, it be at least in the 80's today.

Hello Chris,
Thanks for your comment on my windmills from holland. I have been to australia once and maybe I will go back once to shoot betterphotos. I only had a very old camera when I was there and no experiences shooting.. Fortunately I see some photos from australia too on the net, wishing I was there.. haha I like this shot too. The warm colours are exellent but the lights are overexposed. If you do have a tripod I would say try a high f-stop. F16 or higher.. You will get some stars around the lights and that is a nice effect too. Thanks again and greetings from holland, Corné #4525500
