Sandstorm on the Karakorum Highway

Uploaded: June 15, 2007

Description

F8, 1/2500sec, ISO400, Xinjiang-China, mid-day, shot from a moving bus

A donkey cart with its nonchalant passengers caught in a sandstorm on the Karakorum Highway, the famed highway linking China and Pakistan. I like the stark contrast between the old and new new vehicles in the scene.

Excellent composition/lighting...and all in the middle of a sandstorm! How'd you protect your camera? Perfect shot! Thanks for sharing. (o: #674184

I was in the comfort of a tour bus protected from the elements when I took this shot! This was the first time I seen a sandstorm so it was quite an experience. I was lucky that I sat at the front of the bus and I was clicking the shutter button of my camera furiously...lol #4399686

A memorable picture. I, particularly, will never forget this image.
Besides the beauty of the contrast between the new and the old (as the author says), the picture is very beautiful.
And has quality and professional framing.
Congratulations!

Yes, the contrast of the old and the new works especially well. Outstanding composition too. The mood is truly captivating.
