Prepare For Landing

Uploaded: June 10, 2007

This is a female Widow Skimmer dragonfly photographed near local lake on 06/10/07.

I have many shots of this dragonfly perched, but I wanted an in-flight shot. Dragonflies will often return to the same perch over and over as they catch tiny insects. I set my camera to manual focus, waited for dragonfly to return, and clicked just before landing. A tripod would have worked well here, but I did not have mine.
