Description

Spring brings us some great sunsets! Metered off the sky and then the bride was lit up by an off camera flash.

Thank you so much everyone! I shoot at this location a lot and it is not very often that I get a sky as awesome as this, I feel like I can't really take credit for how awesome this shot is because it is the sky that makes it! :) Kristin, I have a bunch of 580ex flashes that I use with my 30D, I have one on my camera used as the master and my husband is holding another flash (used as slave) just off to my right. Thanks again! #4343123

I would like to know how much of the exposure was from the available outdoor lighting and how much from the two flash units. Also do you remember what the ratio was between falsh untis?

Incredible composition, as well. Great pose at power point with nice diagonal lines and, of course, the sky. Awesome shot - congrats. #4574768

So the trick is to use your husband as a slave Deb, is that what you say? Seriously, what works for me is the story or stories that take this picture beyond your average wedding shot. Is this a snowball melting in the heat of love? Is this a unique human being, standing, perfect when all around is burning? Apart from the technical brilliance (with your husband holding the slave flash) this what strikes me. #4575247

Wow! I am so overwelmed!! Thank you so so much for all your kind words, it has totoally maked me day!!
Lori, I shot this on the red rocks of St. George, Utah!
Ernie, the exposure of the sky was from the outdoor light and my bride was all flash. A few times my flash didn't fire and the sky looked the same but my bride was dark, it did make a cool silhouette though! :) I was trying so many different things that night I don't remember the ratio between flash units, sorry.
Tonj, that is so funny! Thank you so much!!
Again thank you to everyone, I don't know what else to say! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! :) #4575797

Deborah T. Ouzts September 27, 2007

Hi Jessica, thanks for your comment!! I did not use filters of any kind, that is really what the sky looked like that night and our city is surrounded by red rocks, it is a great place for bridals! #4853737
