thankk-you. this little fritillary ws very difficult to capture because it is excessively fluttery and doesn't seem to settle much at all to feed, Beyond tht, it is tiny and easily confused with at least three other fritillaries that seem identical, so I hope that I tagged it right.

it looks similar to the high brown which is substantially larger butterfly
the niobe
the dark green and the lyauteyi

and so I was flipping through images and hoping to match it, but it has two distinguishin marks on the "shoulders" the square and half crescent and then then the bottom wing border is distince.

identifying fritillaries is almost as challenging s blues, so it is a constnt learning process for me, espicially when I cannot get a view of the underwig to help me, because the Cardinal looks similar, but again is much larger fritillary.

the only butterfly I know of right now which is fluttier than this one is the orange tip and I've been trying for over a week to get an orangetip captured. #4219885
