Keep a Sharp Eye

Uploaded: April 22, 2007

Description

This is a close up of the eye of a Great Horned Owl, another resident of "Wind Over Wings" in Clinton CT. The eyes do not have muscles to rotate them in their sockets but can locate an object up to 2 miles away. This bird stood at least 20 inches tall and had impressive talons. Notice my reflection on the left of the pupil.

Wow, and sorry I missed all these responses. This bird is beautiful up close. The "stare" that they seem to have is because owls cannot move their eyes in their sockets like we do. This bird can see prey up to 2 miles away and his talons can crush a human wrist. #4539611
