Description

While shooting the Meadow Brook Historic Races this weekend for the track, I saw this dapper gentleman in his classic car go by and he gave me the great "pose" when he saw me taking his picture.

Heather, could you get any luckier? Actually, I don't think luck has anything to do with your skill. This shot is perfect---has all the right elements (love the "ad" in his pocket). It looks like a setup, it's so good. I swear-- I'm coming to Michigan as soon as possible....

Thanks Piper and your right...this image was pure luck and way to good to be true. I was walking back to my truck from taking racing pans...for a break from the sun...and this guy pulls out of a parking spot. I still had my camera around my neck with my 80-200mm on it and lucky it was ON. I quickly started shooting (1st 2 shots are not good with cluttered background..etc), then he saw me shooting and gave me the OK sign with his fingers as he went by for my last shot. I was so stoked when I got home and saw how well it turned out. Not only that, but since I was shooting this event for Meadow Brook and Waterford Hills racetrack, the program in his pocket is the icing on the cake. I didn't even notice that until I got home. They love this shot...it personifies all they want their historic races to represent. People enjoying classic cars. Plus he's just to great isn't he...the hat...the mustache...I didn't see him the rest of the day...it was my one lucky chance!! #10889

That this fits the bill for your assignment makes me so happy for you! Stoked is an understatement. Bake a cake, why don't ya! "Congrats to Me" in red icing. :) Good luck with your next assignment. How scary. I would be shaking in my cow booties--(my favorite shoes). :) This shot alone should have them signing you as their standing photographer every year. Congrats on this! #10890

Now if I can just make some money shooting for them..LOL. Right now I'm one of the 3 or 4 photographers that are shooting for the track. I do it for free....for the exposure and the practice. I do get all-access passes so I can go in the pits and the corners on the track if I want to which is a nice bonus. Then I give them shots for their website or anything they publish for the track or this historic race. Maybe if I keep pulling off shots like this I can raise my rates next year to something other than ZERO DOLLARS...LOL! #10891
