It'd be interesting to know what's on the other side of the back. If it does not involve the lens focusing an image onto it, then it may be some sort of timing device for remote seveillance. Is there any connection via the underside to the advance mechanism? #6705

Hello Doug;
I have not taken it apart yet so I can't tell what on the camera side.
The camera is from the US NAVY.

What a fun mystery this is! Please let us know what you find out about your camera, Bud. Have you tried finding the company in Austin? Surely the Navy themselves would have an answer. To me, and I'm just guessing, it looks like some sort of base for another contraption. That gold pin on the top center looks to be either a winder or a connection of some sort when pushed down by another piece. Might be the connector for stabilizing the camera onto something larger -- mega-sized tripod or maybe an airplane wing! HA! Now, wouldn't that be the fun one. A spy camera! Cool. Let us know... #10271
