Great shot Steve! This is a Muscovy duck - the breed originally came from South America - they come in a lot of color variations - we see a lot of them in on our lake in North Alabama. Here's a link to read more about them:Hurk (Steve) Hurkett January 04, 2007
Thank you so much for the link and education .... very interesting!Steve Hurkett #3780130

Great color and detail on this one, Steve! I like the framing as well! :) #3784936Hurk (Steve) Hurkett January 05, 2007
Thank you, Jenny .. Before yesterday, I had never seen nor heard of a duck that looked like a cross between a chicken (it's beek) and a duck (its web feet)... this sucker let me get within about 6 feet of him and didn't feel threatened ...Steve #3784971

Steve, was this taken in Myrtle Beach? I encounter this ugly little fellow regularly, and have several pictures of him in my galary. I agree with you I thought he looked like a cross between a turkey chicken and duck or a tur-duc-hen! #3813418Hurk (Steve) Hurkett January 12, 2007
Thanks for your note, Alan .. I later found out this was called a "Muscovy" Duck ... do a google search on this sucker! ... I actually found him in Providence, RI, believe it or not ...Steve #3813429

I've seen one of these in Ohio.. it just to hang out at the Ex's house! It was a little odd looking but we didn't know what it was either! It had more "turkey" features to the face though.. wish I had a picture of it! #3882898BILLY R. PARKER February 08, 2007
STEVE, YOUR DUCK IS UGLYER THAN MINE! ONLY KIDDING! IM GLAD TO SEE YOU DID NOT KNOW THE NAME OF THIS DUCK EITHER. NOW I DON'T FELL SO STUPID. BY THE WAY, YOU GOT A GOOD CAPTURE OF YOUR UGLY DUCK!! BILLY #3927257Hurk (Steve) Hurkett February 08, 2007
Thanks Jess and Billy ... yes, Jess, that was one of my first thoughts when I saw this one ... that it was half turkey .. LOL steve #3927277Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
