Thanks, Terry and Mary-Ella! ...usually, around midnight, the cat be-witching hour, I round up any willing participants out of my 4 kitties, and play, play, play with them on the studio table while simultaneously shooting them....if I could find another playmate/wrangler, it would be a lot easier, or maybe a mechanical toy would fill the bill? #308211

Thanks, everyone! I am still working on nailing exposure and sharpness with some of these studio type shots. This one could have been a lot sharper throughout instead of where the paw grabs the toy, yet with such a wide open aperture to get more light and freeze the action better, it sometimes isn't possible. Any suggestions on how to accomplish my goals with some studio strobes (at midnightish) would be totally welcomed! #308523

Hi Jean! Increase the ISO setting then you can use a smaller aperature (or higher # F stop) for a better depth of field while keeping a faster shutter speed!! #308545

Terry, thanks, I will try that again..though if I remember correctly, then I have to contend with a lot of graininess. (Also my camera is going to have to go back to the factory AGAIN....as it's getting an error on startup so not sure what it is affecting) Back to the drawing board, will keep you posted! #308781

You Will Get Grain If You Go Past A Certain ISO And It Also Depends On What The Image Is Intended for (IE Large Blowup Or Say a Image For Better Photo)You Will Be Suprised At The Clarity Lets Say At ISO 400 The Newer Cameras Are Much Better Than You Think!!The Old School On Film Cameras Would Produce Less Than Desirable Outcome At This Type Film! Give It A Test It Wont Cost You A Thing (The Joys Of Digital)!! #308785

This is amazing! I don't know how you are getting your cat to be where you want it. How? I mean, you're playing with the cat on the table, and is the camera on a tripod, using a cable release? But then how do you focus, and what about seeing the shot in the frame as you click? I'm really interested, because I've been trying to get interesting pictures, or really just any good pictures, of my cat, but she's difficult to shoot as she'll go where she wants, or when I'm playing with her, I just can't get what I want in the camera. #320286

Sreedevi, thank you. It's not a pretty sight, but it's do-able. I am "wrangling" with the kitty using yarn on a pole with my left hand, the camera is set to AF...I am holding the camera with my right hand looking through the viewfinder at what I am shooting...the 10D's a little heavy plus it has a radio controller for the strobes which allows me to move around if need be. There are a LOT of funny (missed) outtakes, one of which I may use for a cat photography business card some day. I'll upload it so you can share the fun. Good luck and let me know how it goes. #320704
