Mud Dauber Habitat

Description

Mud Daubers are medium-size wasps. They feed on spiders. These wasps do not defend their nests and are not likely to attack people.
The nests are constructed of mud or clay and are found attached to the walls or under the eves of buildings. When holes are present in nests, the wasps have completed their life cycle and are no longer present.

Hi Jane, I love this mud dauber nest. When I lived in the South they were everywhere and with that South Carolina Red Clay they would be big and red. This is really excellent, the textures and lighting are terrific! #487718

A well seen and captured macro, Jane. Great description. We have Mud Dauber's in our barn. Now I will know when they are no long present.
