Description

I know this image has been posted numerous times but Ive had a desire to shoot this for years. Finally I had the time and equipment to do it justice hopefully. Chicago cityscape taken this past monday and merged by hand in PS from 8 images. Photo was taken approx. 9:30 pm.

Thanks everyone for the comments.
Jim, I shot this series of images at ISO 200, f11, 20 sec. just so I could get detail in all the buildings. I plan on printing a large 40" long pano for the wall. I have 3 friends in Chicago already asking for one as well.
Like I said I know this images has been done a few times, but I was a personal goal to shoot and I plan I shooting all the major cities in the midwest for a pano series. St. Louis, and Madison are next.

Jim,
I would love the opportunity to shoot the NYC cityscape both night and day. Being from the midwest and working full time engineering and as a struggling hope to become full time photographer its difficult to make the journey to NYC and accomplish it. If you are close to NYC im sure it would be as fulfilling as shooting Chicago was for me finally. My hobby has become my passion over the years and I strive to learn and shoot as much as possible. If I could recommend anything to anyone Id say pick your most desired subjuct and make it happen. After shooting the chicago cityscape at night Ive made it a point to shoot an early a.m. sunrise shot of the same image (reguardless how much I hate mornings). As cold as it was on the monday night I shot those images thinking it would be warm, Its rewards in compliments and self gratifications were worth every "I should have brought another sweatshirt shiver".

Hi Paul, I see my comment via direct bounced. It came out pretty good. You ran into the same problems with distortion on the right side of the image. The Aon Building (monolith on the right) is leaning. This where the heavy sectoring of the frames (in some cases 80% of the frame was discarded to solve the bend problem). I ended up shooting that sequence so many times, it was funny. That Engineering background will have you back there again.

Thanks Dorann and Ronald. Jim, Yeah for my first time shooting a cityscape that big I needed to get a feel for it and have some images to toy with. This was my first piecing together of images. Ill be back for sure, I have alot of ideas and other places I want to shoot yet. The guy next to me that day was lookin at my strange by how many images I shot (10-15 per his 1 or 2). #2830045
