Description

I captured this guy while we were hunkered down under some shelter, waiting out a Texas spring shower. If you look closely, you can see a couple of raindrops on his head. Well, I don't KNOW it's a "he", none of us could think of what kind of bird this even was! :) I have to thank Darryl for alerting us to his presence so we could get the shot.

You shot yourself a Green Heron and most likely a "he". Great job on it Richard. #444956

Great shot Richard, Dennis is exactly right it is a Green Heron. Did you see it extend its neck? It's really funny to see all that neck come out of its chest. I watched one nab small fish from a pond for a while last year and had to look it up to find out what kind of bird it was. #2760909

Thanks a bunch Dennis, Dan and Ken. You guys are great!
Dennis, I'm glad that you and Dan are up on your Wild Kingdom animal trivia to give me a hand with the species stuff. :)
Dan, I didn't see him extend his neck, but that would have been neat to get a shot of!
Ken, I'm still working on getting some time to do some night shooting; I haven't forgotten! #2767161

Great shot of this Green Heron Richard. I got some pretty good shots of these guys this morning. They can be very sky, and sometimes you can nearly walk on them.
Thanks for your comments on my dramatic shot of the heron and the baby duck.
