Description

This was shot in an area north of Cabo San Lucas that seems to be the home of a large population of Cara Caras, the Mexican national bird. My partner Linda noticed two gorgeous specimens perched on a Cordon cactus. So I made a quick u-turn, crawled on my belly under a barbed wire fence, scratched my way through some prickly desert scrub, and found myself within a few yards of them without being noticed. I began shooting away and nailed the flight shot I'd been hoping for.

Beautiful shot of this caracaras Doug ! Very unusual shot and opportunity as they prefer to run rather than fly ! #440093

Great photo. Any time you have to crawl on your belly around cactus you deserve to get a good shot. #2728741
