Hi Tony,
What a terrific photo! This makes a great subject for BetterPhoto's "Where in the World" quiz.

Hi Everyone,
Have fun trying to figure out the location of this beautiful scene! Tony and I will be checking in from time to time to see how things are going. Eventually, after the guesses are all in, we will report back here with the correct answer.

Meantime, have fun guessing!

Is this the Great Sand Dunes near Colorado Springs, CO? What a beautiful and interesting shot!

This looks like it might be the Mojave Desert in southern CA. #3273805

This looks like it was taken at Eureka Dunes, in Death Valley N.P.

Before I realized it was dunes, I was thinking Colorado, also, because I have pictures of plowed fields with similar mountains in the background, taken in Colorado. However, realizing it's dunes makes me think it may have been taken around the tri-cities area, down in Coastal California--south of San Luis Obispo. The dunes on those beaches are extensive, and when you get back into the areas close to the highway, the sand and the hills tend to meld, creating the same type of skyline found here, with vast expanses of wind-blown dunes out in front, heading for the ocean. #3274579

but the mountains in the tri city area do not have snow on them, and the tops are not above timber-line. If this was taken in the US, I would have to agree with those who said it was taken in SE CO at around the great sand dunes #3274833

That's true. I've never been to the Great Sand Dunes, but it seems probable, then, from what the rest of you are saying. Wherever it is, I love the image. :-) #3275723

Looks like the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado to me too. #3276395

It could be the dunes at Death Valley? #3278598

I think it is the Great Sand Dunes of Colorado but hey, why follow the crowd, I'm guessing Death Valley. #3280647

Or how about Panamint Valley? There are dunes in the north end and Telescope Peak in the Panamint Range might be the distant high peak. Who knows? #3281418

I think it is in Death Valley. Beautiful image wherever it is. #3285518
