Nancy, the Super Guppy is a very cool aircraft - When I was stationed at Edwards AFB CA the Super Guppy was used to transport the tail cone used for the Space Shuttle during its cross-country, piggyback flight back to the Cape in Florida on top of the NASA 747! The drag coefficient of the shuttle, while on the Boeing 747 was enormous and the tail cone (fairing) made it much more aerodynamic - In other words the 747 would get more Miles per Gallon! #1773149
