Golden drink

This from a set I call my Quarantine macro series. This is a Taractrocera papyria ssp. agrualia it was expected to become it's own species T. agrualia (unaware of it's happened yet) it's common name is Western Grass-Dart. This cute little guy is roughly 20mm or so. They're quite quick fliers and often settle on grass and occasionally flowers for a drink. Their food plant is a native grass. They have a very distinct resting position, I think it's quite similar to a fighter jet. Its fore wings sit upright or vertically while the hind wings sit horizontally. They have a stunning gold colour that really shines when caught by the sun. The males have a mark or sex brand on the fore wing for identifying between males and females.

Thank you for your kind words and comment Janet, I usually put in extra information on my nature subjects as it is where I studied and worked for a long time. Also seemed appropriate for the contest theme #11816090
