Thank you, Shirley, Joannie( like your sense of humor), Ujjwal, Nancy, Chuck & John! John, to make a short story long, I am enjoying my macro lens even more than I thought I would. There's a few "buts", though. Been wanting a macro lens for long time, so when I saw this "unbelievably"good deal on a Canon 60mm I rushed to the shop to get it! It was the last one in the shop , and the salesperson was very smooth. He made it sound like the deal of the century. When I got home and started shooting I realized it did not have an image stabilizer, so I planned to return it the next day.My fault. When I loaded the photo I noticed a spot on each image, and when I checked the lens closely I saw a tiny chip in the glass.I brought it back to the shop the next day, and they would not give me a refund because, according to them, it was perfectly fine when they sold it to me. It is quite possible they were right and I did chip it, but I think I would have noticed if I had done so. So, since I wasn't 100% sure, I could not honestly say they were at fault. So, I still have the lens and I am getting better with it. There's more- yes, there's more. When I put the new macro lens on- outdoors- , I put the kit lens in a zip lock baggie to keep the dust out. I was having so much fun-lol- with the new lens I forgot the kit lens in the bag for 5-6 days. So, you know what happened next. condensation got inside the lens, so it is now useless. I think I can take the lens off and clean it- youtube
video.lol. If I ruin it, then that is a good excuse to get a better one. Plus, when I was searching you tube I found out that the canon 18-155 mm is a crappy lens. So there. Hope you are still awake. #11722278

Paddy, a fun shot with great light and details! I love the title, too. Sorry you had so many issues with the new lens, but glad you are creating these awesome photos with it! Can't wait to see more. #11722303

Excellent lighting Patrick. I love the colors of the dof. The details are sharp and stand out. Love the fine focus on the hairs on the stem and the little visitor. Beautiful look that turns what some may call a weed into a gorgeous picture. #11722313

LOL, great title Paddy! Fantastic warm light, detail, tones and background. I think there is no way you chipped that lens without knowing it. The shop should have taken it back. Too late now perhaps but it's never too late to review your experiences with them for the benefit of others. #11722336

I like the details, the little bug, and the way the background shares the same colors. #11722591

One of the reason, I'm so wary fo buying online is the inability to inspect first anything I buy. So it pays to buy from a reputable dealer who has generous return policy. I'm glad you had fun with the macro lens as this image shows clear and sharp details. I don't mind the minor imperfections, they rarely show on the image. The important thing is to enjoy shooting. #11722727
