The horse and the bull

In Picasso's "Fantasmagoria" the horse symbolizes Spanish Nationalism and the bull symbolizes "The People" the more so because this animal is almost the totem of the Peninsula, and Spaniards attend its sacrifice with passionate enthusiasm. In his previous works the Horse stood for the woman and the Bull for the artist himself
