Sharing Lunch
Uploaded: June 02, 2018 | Entered: June 02, 2018 16:20:32
This pair of Bluebirds have really been catching insects in the yard to feed their babies (I am guessing). It looked like for a moment that the female was about to share her catch with her mate instead of the babies. Shot with Canon 7D Mark II, Canon 300 mm 2.8 L lens on tripod with gimbal head, through a window. Settings were f6.7, 1/750, ISO 160.

Excellent wildlife and storytelling capture Shirley with great timing and poses from the wonderful Bluebirds!! #11705503Shirley D. Freeman June 03, 2018
Thank you, John. I am not sure if it will compete in the competition though, because the animals were listed as "pets" this time. I still enjoyed taking it, and the wonderful comments from everyone. <>< #11705505Gord MacEachern June 03, 2018

Hey, Dad's gotta eat, too! Exquisite image, Shirley! <>< #11706452Shirley D. Freeman June 07, 2018
Thank you, Chuck. I was thinking "Dad" could go catch his own grasshopper! Actually, he does, but she catches way more than him. She is a real worker, that Mom is. They have both been a joy to watch, and they seem to both be good parents. <>< #11706476Patrick Rouzes June 17, 2018
Amazing clarity, detail, timing & light, Shirley! You have clean windows! #11708598Shirley D. Freeman June 17, 2018
Thank you, Paddy. Actually, you would be amazed, the windows are so close to the lens that you don't have to have them sparkling clean! My bluebirds have raised their family and have left. I miss them so much. Hopefully they will be back soon for a second batch of the season. <>< #11708614SHIRLEY MARGUERITE W. BENNETT June 23, 2018
I dearly love Bluebirds and just recently had my first family come to live in their rent free home. This is a wonderful photo..."What a catch!" #11709844Shirley D. Freeman June 23, 2018
Thank you, Shirley. I love them as well, and this too was my first family. They are just now coming back (one on the rent free home as I type), to start their second family of the season. I cleaned it out after they left, just as directed, to keep decease and pest at bay. It has been a pleasure watching and taking photos of them. Thanks again for viewing, commenting and favoring this shot. I will check your gallery out as well. <>< #11709858Leslie McLain July 03, 2018
