Description

I took this off a boat in Tangier Island, MD. This Ospray seemed to think that we were a bit to close to her and her nest, so she was fussing with us. Taken handheld with Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 100-400mm lens with 1.4 teleconverter (560mm total reach), at 1/3200, f8, ISO 640.

Fantastic image, Shirley! Looks like she means business! <>< #1691848

Thank you, Chuck. Yeah, she pretty much meant business. The captain of the boat was a bit closer than she was used to, evidently. He knew we wanted to get some shots. We weren't all that close, because I was using 560mm of reach, and cropped it to about 83% of the frame. She was just protective of her nest. <>< #11622474

She does not look very happy there, Shirley. Great capture. #11622689

Shirley D. Freeman July 22, 2017

Thank you, Margaret and Bojan. Margaret, to make it even more difficult for a sharp image, we were on a boat that was moving at a pretty good speed as well. I used a fast shutter speed, and had the image stabilizer on as well. I was thankful to capture this expression. Again, thanks. <>< #11622745
