Lovely Joanna - I've never seen this type of plant. #1691722Joanna Kovalcsik July 20, 2017
Cindy, it was new to me also when a gardening friend gave me a clump of it. This is the double variety-- a wonderful shade plant!! After the blossoms fade, the circular ruffle-edged leaves grow tall forming a showy cluster of dark green foliage. I believe there is a pink variety as well. The single-flowered variety grows wild in my woods. Thanks for your kind comments! :) #11622016Patricia White July 20, 2017 1
Very cool indeed. Does this spread? Really love it as well. #11622025Gord MacEachern July 20, 2017 1
I have only seen the early wild kind. This is such a beautiful presentation Joanna!! #11622032Joanna Kovalcsik July 20, 2017
Thanks, Patricia and Gord! The clump grows larger each year, but the plant itself does not spread from one place to another. The spread is merely in the size of the clump as it matures, so there are more lovely flowers each spring. It is definitely not an invasive plant in any way. It is a joy to behold as the lovely flowers emerge followed by the lush leaves. :o) #11622033Ed Lauderdale July 20, 2017 1

I especially like the unfolding blooms along with the open flowers. Lovely! Like others, I've never seen this double variety. Glad they are thriving in your garden. #11622308Joanna Kovalcsik July 21, 2017

I'm not really a gardener anymore but I love flowers and have a botanical interest in them too. #11622629Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
