Description

I didn't think to ask which is more fun for those people who dedicate a year to planning and making their Venice Carnevale costumes; the design and making of it, or the week of wearing it and being photographed in it? Both are hard work, to be sure -- Sophie's headdress weighs nearly 9 pounds.

What a fabulous capture, Chris. This is without a doubt on my bucket list of things to do. Fabulous portrait. #1683665

Thank you very much, RJ! This trip was my first-ever photo workshop, and it was a great experience. Our group size was limited to just 10, and we had two terrific leaders and "Venice veterans" -- Renee Doyle and Ken Koskella who is based in Chicago. They arranged for a few indoor private shoots like this one, as well as several semi-private, but off-the-tourist-path shoots -- this particular morning, we had this grand old ballroom (plus 2 other beautiful spaces) to ourselves, with 4 models to alternate in each space. You can certainly go to Carnevale on your own, but there are some perks to joining a well-organized workshop like this, where the leaders have established relationships with several models, and make all these special arrangements just for the workshop... #11581582
