Gabriel at the Doge's

Description

My late afternoon visit to the upper terrace of St. Mark's Basilica gave me a close up view on the long arcade of gothic arches and quatrefoils of the adjoining Doge's Palace. The sun was largely blocked by a building across the plaza, leaving only a patch of stonework in direct sunlight. The long facade turns a corner here, and a sculpture of Gabriel holding lilies punctuates the transition.

Thanks, Bob! It was quite by accidental timing! (Or maybe it was providential?) #11569402
