Stars in the Trees [All Time Best Photography Contest Finalists]

Gaudi's ridged columns with arms branching out near the top, certainly evoked trees for me, far more than a traditional gothic cathedral nave. The floodlights in the ceiling, with a high f-stop, then became stars seen through the canopy of a strange forest.

Terrific image, Chris... excellent composition, graphics, details and tones! Your pov makes it look almost other worldly, especially in the thumbnail. #1644005Usman M. Bajwa December 02, 2015

Thank you very much, folks! How I would have loved to be able to use a tripod in here! And to be able to see it without 3,000 tourists milling around ;) #11407362Terry A. Stoa December 03, 2015
What an over-the-top cathedral. It's a very magical capture of it. #11407467Mary L. Olson December 03, 2015
Great image of Sagrada Familia. You are right about the tree-like look, which I believe was Gaudi's intention. Looks like they have made more progress since the last time I visited. The first time it was all cranes and heavy equipment. Love the lights in the center. #11407520Chris Budny December 03, 2015
Thanks, Terry & Mary -- yes, he was quite inspired by natural forms, and trees were certainly an acknowledged inspiration for him here. I'm ready to go back, already! #11407588Amanda D. Austwick December 29, 2015
