One of the shots from my love birds photoshoot. These galahs were captured in my Burdekin Plum Tree, and were quite a captivating sight.

Debbie, the left-side cockatoo seems to lack enthusiasm for what the right-side cockatoo is doing. Ah, well. The course of true love never did run smooth... Did you know that a "galah" in "Old Australian" means a "loud-mouthed idiot"? Good old Wikipedia.Douglas Pignet April 09, 2015

Back around 1980, my husband took me on a business trip to Australia for five weeks. There had been a series of electrical "brown outs" back then and he and a colleague were consulting with the Power Authority. I wish I could remember where the power plant was that they were working on--Muswellbrook (NSW) I think, THERE we saw thousands of galahs in the trees and grain fields, and I was in utter amazement at the pink-and-gray masses. We were told that they were nuisance birds and that farmers often SHOT them! Oh my GOSH! They are so beautiful. And from your wonderful photo, they are also very social. Sigh. I hope that attitudes are changing in the 21st Century. #11282045Candace M. Cleveland April 09, 2015
